The city of Ponta Delgada located on the island of São Miguel is the economic-administrative capital of the Azores and the largest city in the region.

It is located on the coast, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean, which gives it great beauty and invites you to stroll along the marginal avenue and marina, a modern and cosmopolitan area where you can feel all the vibrant atmosphere during the day and at night thanks to the many bars and restaurants where the local population usually meets.

Culture and Heritage

It is also a historical city, with a valuable cultural heritage built over its five centuries of existence, from which we highlight the Portas do Sol, the symbolic gateway to Ponta Delgada, considered the city’s ex-libris, but also the S. Sebastião Mother Church or the Convent and Church of Esperança with the iconic image of the Senhor Santo Cristo dos Milagres, the fruit of religious devotion.

The municipality of Ponta Delgada offers many natural beauties, as well as the rest of the island of S. Miguel. In less than 2 hours drive you can easily reach the Lagoa das Sete Cidades (with the blue lake and the green lake) or the Lagoa do Fogo, two amazing lagoons situated in the crater of dormant volcanoes.

The animal and nature lovers can also hike around the island or join Marine wildlife tours for dolphin and whale watching.
